HOW TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR HORSE

1) GROOMING

Groom your horse. Please make them as presentable as possible! I am more than happy to tidy up manes/ remove scars within the portrait, but a well turned out horse as a reference makes a world of difference.

2) SHADOWS & POSITIONING

Position the horse so you have a clear view of their face. Be mindful of shadows, so make sure they have light hitting the correct parts of their face, i.e. light on front with shadow falling behind features. (it makes a HUGE difference!)

3) EARS

Get their ears to prick forwards! Give them something to show interest in. I'm sure everyone has had someone stood behind the camera dancing around to get that perfect look of alertness... shake a bucket, wave some grass, jump up and down. We want the horse to turns their head to look! Try a few slightly different angles.

4) TACK

It is totally up to you whether you would like the horse wearing tack. Bridles are pretty self-explanatory, but if you would prefer without, please just slip the headcollar down their neck.

I am also happy to travel in order to get the perfect photograph for your portrait.

A small fee will be added to cover fuel.

If you are unsure whether you will be able to get a good photograph, I strongly recommend getting hold of me!

It is also a good chance for me to meet you and your horse which really lends itself to the portrait.
